2nd Annual Dania Beach Mahi Madness

Captains Meeting:

$300 early entry by June 29th $350 after

Biggest 3 Dolphin Combined Weight Prize

Prize money will be split 50/30/20 for 1st 2nd and 3rd place.

May weigh up to 5 Mahi at the weigh-in; the top 3 weights will be recorded.

Calcutta’s:

Biggest Meat fish (Tuna Kingfish Wahoo) – $100
Charity 50/50 Calcutta (Biggest Dolphin) – $100
High Roller (Biggest 3 Dolphin) – $500

* Calcutta’s are winner-take-all; in the event nobody wins a Calcutta category the money will be donated to the Dania Beach Improvement Committee.*

Other Prizes:

Other prizes will be given to the Top Junior Angler younger than 14 and the Top Lady Angler!

Raffles and silent auctions will occur during the captain’s meeting and be awarded before the award ceremony.

Rules:

  • Lines in at 7 AM no earlier.
  • No lines out must be at dock checked in by vhf or phone by 5 pm (Channel 72).
  • The boundary is a 35-mile East Boundary with no North or South boundary.
  • The maximum number of participants on the vessel is 6 including the captain. This does not include children under 5.
  • All eligible fish must be verified on video with the boat number given out on the night of the captain’s meeting upon landing the fish. This video must contain the time boat number and code word which must be saved until the weigh-in results are final. Friday night a “Code Word” will be given over text to say while filming all eligible fish still alive. This is to eliminate cheating and must be included for every fish.
  • One member of the team must attend the captain’s meeting to register and receive the boat number.
  • Only manual rod and reel-caught fish are permitted no electric reels unless used for kite or dredge.
  • No mutilated fish will be accepted. Snagging free-gaffing or harpooning is permitted.
  • No live chumming is permitted fish must be dead before being thrown in the water. Dead bait chunking or chum is permitted.
  • Boats may leave out of any port. Once vessels leave port they may not dock or tie up to anything besides dock at Dania Beach Marina designated by tournament committee until eligible fish are weighed.
  • All winners of prize money are subject to a polygraph at the expense of the tournament committee.
  • Any challenges to the winnings of the tournament must be done on the night of July 13th with a check payable to the Dania Beach Improvement Committee for $500 with the reason or evidence as to why the results must be challenged. The check will be returned to the challenger if a team is found ineligible for the prize money. In the event that the ruling stands the money will be donated to the Dania Beach Improvement Committee.
